Thank you Ralf for your help and advice on my question about Amendment 32 - The Corbett Report! I am very interested in all the fuss but I am trying to get to the original documentation and description of this article. As you say there is a lot of replication on the blogs; but, none of them link to the origin. Even the EU sites do not have this Amendment listed, there are however records of who and how the members voted, but no complete description of what they voted on. Thank you again for your help! :)

Caoimhin,

You posted a question on my blog, but I could not find where with reasonable care, so I try here (limited to what I guess and can remember without search).

I am not sure if I know what you were asking for, but my guess would be the following:

The European Parliament voted on a report concerning the Treaty of Lisbon, from the Constitutional Affairs Committee and co-authored by Méndez de Vigo and Corbett.

Opponents to the Lisbon Treaty tabled an amendment (30 something) demanding respect for the Irish referendum outcome. Predictably it was voted down, as oppistion moves usually are, but British anti-EU bloggers naturally used the vote to propagate the message that the European Parliament does not respect the will of the people, as opposition groups tend to do.

My memory would put these events (one or) two months back in time.

If you want official records, you would have to look up the EP voting record (and report). If you are interested in the fuss, you could try searching the anti-EU ('Eurosceptic') British blogs, which tend to replicate each other.

Hi Kim! :) Good to see ya, how was the vacation? We're having a bit of scandal over here concerning the European Union Super State and their un-democratic policies, nothing to worry about except freedom! ;)

Ha!

"FECK" - ooo, I loved that!

I'm sorry, but I haven't been following EU finances of late (vacation), so I can bring no enlightenment to your blog about that subject. Lord knows, I can barely keep track of all our own crap pertaining to money here in the US anymore!

But Irish stew sounds just lovely right now! I'm very hungry!

Hey Cao, I just got through watching that video about the Lisbon Treaty, and I find that Jens-Peter Bonde, Danish MEP said it well, they made it so difficult to read, that you might need a map to find your way. He was speaking about the font, and the spacing of it, so it is unreadable. <a href="http://europa.eu/lisbon_treaty/glance/index_en.htm" rel="nofollow">The Treaty at a glance</a> looks all fine and good, but like you said, "are they not allowing all citizens to vote in a democratic electoral process throughout the member States? If this passes in June do you think they will ever allow us to vote on anything again?" Well, it doesn't sound like it, from something else I found: <a href="http://europa.eu/abc/panorama/howorganised/index_en.htm#parliament" rel="nofollow">How We Are Organized: Well, where are the normal people?</a> Like you show a picture of, they are the sheep, which normally have a shepherd, and a dog to boot, to move them about!

Well, I guess that Parliament is the Shepard, and I am not sure just who the dog is. :) Maybe that one odd person from Parliament....who the heck knows. :D

Like ThriftCriminal says,
“A nation of sheep begets a government of wolves” Edward R. Murrow. Well, so true!

Now I must confess, I don't really know much about this, however, unlike others, it only takes a little time to read what is already there. We here in the US do get a vote, but does it REALLY count...hmmm, I am not sure at all. The "Powers To Be", it seems, make sure, that most of the time it doesn't. As Euro Yank, and I know he knows his figures, "only about 25% bother to vote and these are the people that have the most to gain from the party elected..."
Maybe they don't bother to vote, because some realize that it doesn't count most of the time anyways. Or some are so ignorant, that they have no idea what to vote.

Like you said, Cao, it is "as plain as <a href="http://homecooking.about.com/od/foodhistory/a/irishstewhistry.htm" rel="nofollow">Irish Stew</a>".
Well, I guess I had my say, not sure if it is a good say, but it is a say! ;)
